The jaguar — Panthera onca — the apex
guardian of everything NATIVA protects.
A Landscape Story
The return of the jaguar
is the return of the forest.
In the dry forests of the Gran Chaco, a single jaguar requires hundreds of square kilometers
of unbroken habitat. Where jaguars return, it is because prey has returned. Where prey returns,
it is because forest has been restored. And where forest is restored, it is because people
— indigenous, local, and institutional — have chosen to stand for it.
This is the theory of change behind everything NATIVA does.
We don't protect species in isolation. We protect the conditions that allow entire ecosystems —
and the communities who have always lived within them — to thrive together.
"Our approach is simple, and it is hard:
connect landscapes, and you transform realities."
Since 2003, this philosophy has delivered some of the most significant conservation outcomes
in South America — from co-founding REDES CHACO, the trinational alliance for the Chaco region,
to pioneering the SICCLIMA climate planning methodology now used across Bolivia.
